Yeah About That:
Notta’s Observations on Respect and Associated Ideas:
Nothing comes from nothing. If you have no respect, you will not receive any. Ever.
There is such a thing as minimum respect; it’s the notion that accepting that others have a right to live and have their own thoughts for no better reason than you want the same right. Fair is fair.
If you say, “Respect is earned,” you are maybe half right. You have to realize that the other person can’t really respect you if you refuse to have a minimum respect for them. And if you can’t have that minimum respect for others, you don’t deserve to call yourself a human being.
Respect demanded and not returned is arrogance and an ego built on crap. It stinks and the first good rain will send it to the sewer where it belongs.
A position and a person are not the same thing. Anyone can hold a position of authority in high respect but s/he deserve only the minimum respect when s/he is a complete incompetent holding
Nine times out of ten, the people who always use words like “disgrace” for what they don’t like are the real disgrace in the picture.
Same goes for those who exaggerate; they are the exaggeration and have all the substance of a popcorn fart.
Do the world a favor and admit you can be wrong. We all can. Of course, I could be wrong about that, too.
Do the world another favor: if you can’t wish good things for someone else, at least don’t wish them harm. If they lead with their egos, they’ll do enough harm to themselves; it won’t be your fault. If they lead with their conscience, the good things will come in spite of you. Life will out.
Nothing, repeat nothing, damages respect as much as lying or going back on your word.
